Friendly staff,very dog friendly and food is amazing, if you want a room with a bath this is the hotel for you.

Lovely old hotel that delivered a disappointing birthday experience. Very friendly staff, good restaurant, lovely wee pub attached. Breakfast was a little scant, fry up was good, but smoked salmon and eggs (plural) resulted in 2 slices of salmon and 1 poached egg. Not the most extensive range of continental/cold stuff - 1 cold meat, 1 cheese, no fruit besides the pre mixed fruit salad, no pate/cream cheese. Does have gluten-free options, though. At this point, it's a solid 4/5. The main problem was with the room and handling of the issue. Booked the library suite, with the two main upgrade features being the in room jacuzzi and double rainfall shower, neither of which worked. The most frustrating thing is that the management knew about this, but didn't communicate it to staff. Checked in at 2pm, no mention. Got keys at 4pm from different staff, no mention. Raised the jacuzzi issue at 5pm, which the receptionist had to message the housekeeping WhatsApp group, and come to our room at 5.30pm, saying housekeeping informed her the manager had ordered the parts, and that she would pass the issue to the owner. We pointed out the reason we upgraded from a double/master room (£100-150 extra per night) was the jacuzzi, that the upgrade was a surprise present, and chose this instead of a spa day down the road. She'll pass to the owner and manager, fine, no point shooting the messenger. The manager then spoke to us at dinner, explaining the storm the week before blew their electrics, understandable, offering a free bottle of wine and mentioning that they hope to make it up to us next time (hinting at a future discount?), happy campers at that point. We ordered different drinks of roughly same value, but nothing was taken off the bill, didn't particularly want to get into "where's our freebies" with the waitress so thought maybe manager has a different plan. Then, nothing was said at checkout. Not going to kick off at a receptionist for a management issue, they were aware of the issue and clearly left no note at reception to talk to us about it. It's their job to offer to make it up to us, not my responsibility to chase and make a fuss about it while on holiday. Just such poor communication all round, left a real sour taste in the mouth after spending in 2 nights on the suite, dinner, and drinks, what a drop & flop/city break long weekend abroad costs.

Had dinner in the restaurant the food was brilliant and a great selection of drinks and bread available. Portions are large very cozy vibe.

Just back from a wee break to start the new year. Sayed 2 nights in room 22 , (perfect!). A real fire in your bed room! a first for us…. Drifting off to sleep with the soft warm glow from the fire an unforgettable experience.. Great value restaurant, friendly and efficient staff….we are planning our next visit! Regards and thanks to everyone at The George for looking after us.

Whilst they were very busy, the staff managed to find space for our group of 11 in the bar for a delicious meal. They were very friendly and accommodating. Thankyou for the warm welcome, good food and fine single malts!

Came for a nice wee lunch and left with such regret…the food was absolutely horrific. Order a panini sandwich ( cheese and ham & chicken club) plenty of cheese but somehow the meat never made it to the sandwich. Highly Disappointed. The Cullen and Skink soup was filled to the brim with leeks hardly any other ingredients. The Chef should honestly be ashamed of themselves and how they portioned the food. The fish and chips were swimming in grease. My stomach is absolutely wrecked. I order the crusty bread and I basically got the scraps from another table. Do better.

We had booked to stay for 3 nights over the bells Amazing place with the most attentive and friendly staff Food was amazing and they loved the two dogs in our party Unfortunately we had to leave early as our dog became unwell Staff directed us to the local vet but they were unable to help so we had to head home to our own vet They held the room for us in the hope that we could return Our beloved dog didn't make in but the staff could not have been more accommodating and helpful We have booked to return next year and are looking forward to revisiting hope it's the same staff as last year

We stayed at The George Hotel as guests of relatives over New Year 24/25 with our ancient springer spaniel. This place is by far the most dog friendly hotel we have ever stayed in anywhere. The staff we friendly and nothing was ever too much trouble, food in the restaurant was excellent. Well done to all the staff, superb.

Told the waitress my food was cold, she did nothing. Told the waitress my fish was mushy inside and tasted frozen, she did nothing. Used to be great. Now it's overpriced and standards are rock bottom. Was billed for the fish regardless. Would like that meal refunding on an over £100 table.

Where to begin with this review.. it's taken me so long to sit down to do this. My husband and I are from Canada, and decided to get married in May in Glencoe. We knew we wanted our 25 guests to have a place to stay for the night and our planner had sent us a few locations that were close by. The George was exactly what we had wanted. We could not have made a better choice. The George was basically the star of our wedding day. It was the absolute best place for everyone to have a good rest after our cozy wedding day. Claudio went above and beyond, so much more than we could have ever expected. Booking 16 rooms was something we were not looking forward to but they made it so easy. We expected to walk in and have a very casual pub style dinner, and we were blown away when we walked in and saw how beautiful the room they set up for us was. The hotel rooms had both us, and all of our guests talking - even still to this day. It was such a lovely dinner, night, and morning. I think every single guest was walking around the next morning after breakfast taking in how lovely Inveraray is. We will absolutely be back to The George Hotel next time we wander through Scotland.

Just in for dinner which was great. There was some live music which we really enjoyed. Great selection of malts at really good prices. An excellent Friday night out!

Still not changed after all these years. Warm and cosy and food superb. Tried to take photo of the delicious haggis meal but couldn't wait so I ate it. Staff brilliant.

First impression most definitely did not feel welcome and certainly not impressed with the female host at the door on 19/11/24 around 13.30 she was most definitely not helpful with or needs absolutely made me feel embarrassed when asked for a table for 4 only to be told to comeback in 30 minutes but we saw at least 7 tables empty...

Stopped here for lunch on our way to another hotel. We loved the simple charm of the place and the cosy roaring fire. The staff were really attentive and helpful. We had one of the best Cullen Skinks we've had, and the oysters and beer were tasty, too.

Did not stay in the hotel but had dinner there. Top food and very friendly staff. If in the area this is a must visit as their whisky selection is massive and all of great quality

Stopped for a meal on the way home and feel the quality of the food was not as good as before. Still got the atmosphere though.

Stopped on journey home for dinner got a table but after waiting over 20 mins still hadn't had order taken.Family who arrived after us were served Dissapointing as had been recommended this place.
